so this sunday holden participated in his first easter egg hunt. Recently he has very much been in the “mine” stage, ever so 2 year old. At the playground he insists that the entire jungle gym is his, reguardless of me insisting that it is a colective jungle gym , he generally just calls me a socialist and declares the slide as his and his alone. Yet this weekend at the easter egg hunt he was great. No declaring that all eggs every where, belonged to him, no getting scared by all the bigger kids running around. He knew his task, and set out on it. Picking up some 22 eggs and winning a basket, which was actually pink and meant for a girl…. but being as open minded as he is he didnt care.
so in short… i have enough candy to survive the next year an a half if hershey goes on strike…
Anytime I say those words, I think I should be yelling them like some drunken college kid on TV. As it winds down, it has been pretty awesome.
Friday night We left at 9pm for HP40. We had 6 people in a cargo van. It was a lot like being on tour, but more comfortable. I haven’t been climbing much, so I went without any serious climbing goals. I didn’t send anything that I hadn’t done before (save a few warmups that I hadn’t noticed before). It was more of a social trip with some climbing mixed in. At the height of it, there were 14 of us.

…not enough work.
But I did find this: the Sandwich bike. (even though you bike nerds–you know who you are–probably already know about it.)
life has been a bit of a roller coaster latly so Ive had very little time to blog much of it. Crazy thing about starting a new job is how directly it relates to your lack of blogging time. I started a new job just a couple iles outside of charm city limits. The best part is, that im on the road for a total of 15 minutes, and am able to pick up the boy w/ plenty of time to go to the park. The bad part is that I had to go buy almost all new clothes. Unlike the jobs ive had for the past 6 years, I cant just roll out of bed and into work, shirt/tie required, which im slowly getting used to. Im also slowly getting used to being in a somewhat more traditional software environment. Where there is such a thing as a project manager and requirements documents etc. Whacky….. I have a bunch of things I want to write up about on the geeky end, but that for another time.
I just made a mix CD for a CD trade at the space. Mine is a guilty pleasure themed CD. There are a lot of things that I should be embarassed about, but am not. I will defend the first 2 earth crisis 7″s to the death for example. I love lita ford and loverboy. I feel no shame in these artists or songs, but a lot of other people would find shame in them. But here are some songs/artists that I feel slight pangs of embarrassment about but I love nonetheless. Read the rest of this entry »
no, this is not a reference to the fine film staring Dabney Coleman as a police officer diagnosed with a terminal disease who decides to die in the line of duty to increase his insurance payout to his family.
What follows is another in what is sure to be a long line of pre-moving entries about moving from DC (basically) to B-more. We’r -really excited to move, but we have begun to realize that we are going to miss living just off the metro line. Much of our free-time will be used doing things that we will miss when they are less accessible. DC and Charm City are still pretty damn close, but I know that we go to Harmony a LOT more than cherokee and mike do.
Friday night we went for a midnight bike ride through the cherry blossoms (as it turns out, they are not as pretty at night as we thought they would be). We also stopped at the jefferson memorial and FDR memorials. It’s funny because those are 2 that we have never seen. We just kept putting them off. The FDR memorial is actually pretty damn cool.
We now have been charged with making a list of things we need to do at least once more before the metro is far away.

yesterday I had to be in baltimore for work so I parked at our house and then rode to work. Because we are totally obsessed, I took pictures. I also met some of our neighbors. They seemed nice. As I was skulking around in the back alley like a burgalar, an older woman gave me a funny look and seemed really distressed when I said “good morning”. She was too far away to be able to explain the whole moving in thing.
It’s going to be a month and a half before we move in, so I expect to obsess about it every day until then.
