The sad scenes of southeast baltimore
posted by jim at 8:31 pm

After dark on a Satuday night, as we were driving back from the grocery store, we passed chazz and renee’s package goods.  It’s a small corner bar with a small red door with a small diamond shaped window near the top.  Outside were two small children maybe 9 or 10 years old.  One was standing on her tip-toes trying to peer through the window while the other one was behind her jumping up and down.  They were both clearly trying to look in the bar window, we could only assume to see if their parents were inside.

hello, arch-nemesis

RUnning, my arch nemesis.  Has proven a formidable foe over the past 3 years.  Mike has embraced the dark side but I still occupy the limbo between the forces of good (riding a bicycle) and the forces of evil.  Today, running and I had another fight.  It was a long battle and I won by decision.  Slow pace, punching away while the sweet sounds of bloodlet and coalesce soothed my ears.  Periodically I would pick up the pace so I could catch mid carson july or snapcase.  I didn’t set out with a specific distance or time in mind.  But in the end, I guess I did about 5.5 miles in an hour.  Less than stellar but more than my normal 0 mph on the couch.  I don’t feel like I’m going to die or anything so I guess that’s good.

THe route

clockwise from top left. Holden opening if you give a mouse a cookie. Holden opening spongebob play doh. My dog Sara, jen making “Holla!” bread.

My most recent bad influence on him:

Getting him to yell “O-KAY”, “What!” and “Yea-ah!” as if he were Dave Chappelle doing an impression of Lil John
