so ive been working on these lyrics for a while now… its for a new south carey song im tentativly calling “talking to the taxman about running numbers” , its mostly about my grandmother, but in a more general sence is a little vinete about the destruction of the idea of job security.
Talking to the tax man about running number
she came down from the mountains of green
down to the city of greed
she had her tools in hand
she got a job working for the man
she worked day in she worked day out
documenting the rights we never got
she bounched me on her kneee
whispering to me
just like kenedy and camelot
this too will pass
daddies cut stone
they worked it to the bone
“its not the cough that carries you off
its the coughin they carry you off in”
he did work to the end
for us both you never know when
she moved the files here, she moved the files there
binary is short hand for whats not fair
words are tools, but both are no use
when your hands and lips will never be loose
she bounched me on her kneee
whispering to me
just like kenedy and camelot
this too will pass
saturday morning I woke, packed the bike(s) onto jen’s roof rack. Put the computer in the passenger seat and rolled to mike’s. Mike fixed my computer because he is the bomb-ass friend that he is. We then proceeded to pack a scion XA with the following equipment:
3 bikes. 1 guitar amp. 1 guitar. 1 bass drum. 1 snare (in case). bag of drum hardware. bag of bike tools.

so when south carey played a couple weeks ago, some one asked jim for a demo or a website and he gave her the geekpunk.org address. This kind of emarressed me a bit, like people looking for some rock, instead reading about our lives. Jim was like “well this isnt a band site, but like a place were we and our friends write stuff, and generally south carey songs or lyrics end up there” … the more I thought about it… it kind of made sence. The band is really an extension of us, and songs end up being about the same stuff that we post here, sometimes the EXACT same thing we post here… I guess in a way its bring everything back to the frail 94 mantra of the personal is political/revolutionary etc…
so in light of this… I have created a new south carey category on geekpunk, and posted some demos from yesterday. They are still ruff and need some more mixing… but honestly aint bad for a basement recording. I was weary about posting them , but then jim informed me that I had posted much worse things…. which I have.
so in the spirit of openness here are some demo recordings recorded yesterday at 12 foot wide studios, while holden napped, and took turns playing w/ me and jim durring vocal recordings.
